Like Jim Butcher and many others, I’m okay with fan fiction. I consider it flattering and really cool that someone enjoys my characters and my world enough to want to play in it. That said, there still needs to be a few rules.

Cribbing shamelessly from Jim, I’m embracing the Creative Commons model.

The policy:

1. You can’t make money from works based on any of my works.
2. Post a disclaimer on your work. Feel free to use the sample below. In doing so, you waive any rights to the work: which means you can’t sue me or mine for compensation if I happen to write something similar.
3. Go forth and write!

Sample fan fiction disclaimer:
“The Blood Line series and all its characters are copyright Maria Lima. This story is licensed under the Creative Commons as derivative, noncommercial fiction.”
