Ask Me Anything
Thursday, April 12th, 2012

All the cool kids are doing it:

Chuck Wendigquestion mark

Ragen Chastain

I’ve heard that Jim Hines is going to do it over at Reddit.

So, since I’ve had blog-block for awhile, let’s turn it over to you all.

Feel free to ask me anything: about writing, food, fun, frolic–whatever strikes your fancy. Your questions don’t even have to be about me.

Go for it!

Maria, is there a new series in the works? I would still love to read more about Keira’s brother Tucker, either him and his boyfriend in their own story or a back story about Tucker as a Viking.

Hi Maria! Where do you do your best writing? Describe the sounds, the place, the feel for where you do your best work? What’s it like?

Rachel, right now, I’m concentrating on recording the audiobooks – which is taking up tons more time than I expected.

I do have several ideas in mind for new books, but nothing concrete at the moment.

I’m totally open to the idea of a novella/short stories starring Tucker. :)

Jeff, my writing space is kind of boring. I work at my desk at home in my home office, which is a repurposed dining area. I use a 24″ iMac and tend to work with no music/TV/other background noise.

On occasion, I move to the recliner and work on my laptop, but for serious, down’n'dirty writing, it’s the Aeron chair & the iMac at my desk.

I prefer solitude and silence to focus and must have a big 32 oz mug of water next to me while I write. The ceiling fan is usually on, as I can’t stand being hot. I work in yoga pants and a loose t-shirt, barefooted with my feet propped up on a cushy footrest.

I have written elsewhere, but it’s a lot tougher when I’m not in my own environment.

OK… how is Confessions doing? You haven’t publicized it much, nor does it appear in your sidebar.

Also, I can’t remember if you found a new agent after your old one imploded… anything going on there?

Larry, “Collected Works” isn’t doing so great. And I’m utter pants at the promo thing. I need to do more.

Thanks for pointing out that it wasn’t on the sidebar – that was totally my bad. I’d not put the correct label on the entry so it wasn’t showing up. All fixed now!

Re: agent – I’ve not sought out a new agent yet and will probably not do so for a while. I think the industry is undergoing such a crazy shakeup with ebooks and self-publication that it might make sense to wait.

Heya, Kim – sorry for the delay in replying. RL’s been a bit busy.

As to more books, at this point, Pocket’s dropped the Juno imprint, so I don’t have a contract for another book in the series. I have been contemplating continuing it via ebook/self-pub, but that’s on hold until I finish recording the audiobooks.

Right now, things are pretty much up in the air.

      Glad you’re enjoying the series!!
