Loads of spoilers below the cut, so beware.

Season 4…a very good place to be

Moonlight, for the…yawn (no spoilers)
Friday, September 28th, 2007

As much as I adored Sophia Myles in Doctor Who and Jason Dohring in Veronica Mars, I truly cannot abide Moonlight.

In the immortal words of Vampire Willow: Bored now.

Of the very amusing, the actor playing the college professor who is obsessed with vampires is Rudolf Martin – the same guy that played Dracula in the Buffy Season 5 opener.

Stephen Fry has a blog?

...the Nielsen Company (yes, the ratings people) opened up an online site for social networking/opinions? It’s evidently funded by their research money and carries no advertising. Supernatural is currently the hottest thing FTW.

2007 Banned Books Week: Ahoy! Treasure Your Freedom to Read and Get Hooked on a Banned BookBanned Books Week starts on Saturday? Do your part and buy a banned book or two. I discovered one of my now favorite YA authors, Brent Hartinger because of Banned Books week a couple of years ago. I bought his first book, The Geography Club, then continued to buy the others in the series and enjoy them immensely. As luck would have it, Brent was the chair of the Joan Lowery Nixon contest and I was a judge for said contest. He’s a cool guy and half of the Two Gay Guys vlog on AfterElton.com.

Here’s the list of the Top 100 Most Frequently Banned Books.

The rising Canadian dollar has affected the price of pot”?

There’s a nifty online TV Calendar that helps you figure out your viewing schedule”. (Especially useful for those of us who relied on iTunes season passes in the past).

Today’s post brought to you by chickwriter’s various blog feeds…I really, really love the Internet.

And then there was pie
Monday, September 24th, 2007

Spent a lovely Saturday evening at aerye‘s House of Recluses and got to see my darling qe2 plus got to hang out with other fangrrrls. And there was PIE! (not to mention loads of other great munchables)

Spent the night at beledibabe‘s and got to see the fabulous Inside the Actors Studio with Elton John (which she had on her TiVo). That man is brilliant.

Sunday was quiet time, which yay, and too soon, it became Monday. None of my usual lunch buddies are at work today (either on vacation or out of town for other reasons), so I angsted about what to do. Settled on a six-cheese pizza from Papajohns and now have enough food for at least 3 or 4 meals. One thing I don’t remember hearing about menopause is the wonky appetite. One day, I’m starving, most days, I just don’t have an appetite for *anything*. Oh well. I will keep myself fueled appropriately.

In 2 weeks, I’ll be San Francisco bound for a few days (work related). Sadly, there will be very little time to myself as this is the annual client-paid-for trip wherein me and my boss get to hang out at their trade show and do mini-help seminars for their association members. I fly in Friday, 10/5 and out again on Tuesday. The trade show begins Saturday a.m. and I’ll be working all weekend. I hope to be able to get out to at least see a bit of the city.

Heroes starts tonight (a HUGE YAY!) as does Pushing Daisies (which looks interesting). Not sure if I’ll watch live but I’ve got the DVR set to record. I wish I knew a Nielsen family or two so I could (ahem) help (ahem) them decide what to watch this week.

Happy Annivesaries

70 years ago today, this little book called, The Hobbit debuted.

Five years ago, we were first introduced to Mal, Zoe, Wash, Kaylee, Jayne, Book, Inara, Simon and River. (Then, the 20th of the month, but on Friday, nevertheless).

Thanks, Professor Tolkien and Thanks, Joss!

TGIF, everyone.

Wherein I am highly amused.

Thanks to Smart Bitches, Trashy Wenches…. (it’s a totaly SFW ad for a porn channel – see how many references you get).

Today, we be all talking like pirates, arrgh. Of course, my pirate talk tends to be more Jossian in tone (grrr. arrgh). ::g::

Lovely, gorgeous fall weather outside: sunny, breezy and not at all warm. Too bad I’m stuck in the office all day. I’m not much of an outdoors person, but when fall hits, I love the idea of lounging outside, perhaps in a hammock, with a good book and a long, tall drink.

I’ve been procrastinating setting up my DVR for the new TV show debuts. I’d best get on that tonight or risk missing something. What shows are you all looking forward to? (new or old) I’m definitely going to check out Moonlight and Pushing Daisies, and look forward to the return of Heroes, Friday Night Lights, SGA, Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives. Oh, yeah, and the back half of Blood Ties!!

ETA: SUPERNATURAL!! (d’oh!)

Watched the first 3 SGA Season 3 episode commentaries last night. Enjoyed them, but where are Joe and David??? None of the first disk shows have actor commentaries. :( Also got my copy of A Dog’s Breakfast yesterday. I’ve seen the movie already, as I bought it on iTunes when it was available, but am looking forward to all the lovely extras. <3s DVDs

What’s up in October for me?
Some signings, all local at Borders type stores.

October 19: B Dalton # 1106, Union Station, Washington, DC 20002 4:30 p.m.
October 20: Waldenbooks @ Landmark mall 1:00 p.m.
October 26: Borders Express @ National airport at 4:00 p.m.

I’m attending Dying to Write, a conference held by the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of MWA on October 27, then on 10/31, I’m flying out to Saratoga Springs for World Fantasy. I’ll get to meet some of my fellow Juno writers there, plus hang out with loads of my SFF friends and my darling cousin allaboutm_e and her hubby, Jeff Mariotte, 2 people I rarely get a chance to see. I’ll even (finally!) get a chance to hang out with Chris Golden. We’ve known each other via email for some years now, but have yet to be at the same event. This is going to be a blast!
