No cowboys here…

First, Narnia – it’s pretty and prettily done.

That said, I agree with beledibabe‘s assessment. Just a bit too heavy-handed with the allegory.

More Narnia with sort of spoilers

Why, yes, there is snow

…and because of that, people are driving like Lex Luthor – except maybe not in a Porsche. ::g::

Very pretty outside. Roads fairly good on my commute (which is minimal). I took this opportunity to stop at Perks (local coffee shop) and get brekkie. Mocha, carrot nut muffin and a pack of McVite’s for later. (choccy digestives). The owners are a lovely couple. He’s from England, she’s Korean. They know me by name. I prefer to stop here rather than Starbucks.

Last night, went to A La Lucia, another local, famiily owned restaurant. Just up the street, it does a mean lunch menu, and (my first time) dinner was superb. Took P, who was once co-owner of our company, and now lives in R.I. and works on marketing stuff part time. She was in town for the day for a meeting (that ended up canceling), so she, A (another project mgr) and I splurged a bit. We bought wine. (Note, this place is so good, James Carville, who lives nearby is often spotted there for lunch. I saw him on Friday.)

Tonight is the MWA board meeting. Tomorrow, I get to go see Narnia with beledibabe! w00t! I got freebie tix – and since my client meeting is in Bethesda, I’m just meeting up with her directly after, since the movie is at Mazza Gallerie. We plan to do early dinner, then movie.

Saturday, is gay cowboys in a matinee, then a dessert party at 8:00. Such the popular one. ;-)

John, re: your email – I’m not teasing. I’m really going to write that for you. Can’t guarantee when, but it will come…ehr, they…never mind.

Running in place: a multidude of musings

My last week was crazy busy at work – in a good way. New Project Manager started, turns out she’s a book freak. Yay! My new developer starts in January. I truly hope that we can get another one on board soon.

Went to see Pride and Prejudice with T and NewN. We all enjoyed immensely – more than expected. T is an Austen geek, knowing the book in detail. Many things to love about this version, including the fascinating way it was shot. All in close up detail, intimate in angles. I’d like to see it again.

I dragged darthrami and strange_selkie to the holiday party at Mystery Loves Company. Unfortunately, my buddy Dean James didn’t make it from Texas. He’s a bit under the weather. I did enjoy myself, though. We went in early, so we could make our homage to H:LotS – coffee at the Daily Grind, and a nice walk through Fells Point (despite the cold). Talked to some aspiring writers and some fans, as well as some friends. Bought a few books.

Came home to collapse. I figured out that although I’m an ENTJ, I have many bouts of “I” – I consider myself a high-functioning introvert. I love people, I love sharing, but after a few hours, I *really* need to go home and decompress.

Spent last night finishing up copies for theamusedone – John, the Oz discs should be in the mail to you tomorrow. Haven’t gotten to the QAF:US yet.

Woke up earylish – after weird dreams (darn sinus meds!)

Started reading Anansi Boys – part of my squeeful package from Mysterious Galaxy. (and inscribed!!). OMG, I so <3 Neil Gaiman – the man is brilliant!

In other good news – I am going to ConDor!! Thanks to the heads up from my darling cousin, allaboutm_e – I’ve registered, I have plane tickets and I’ll get to spend a weekend in early March with said cousin, and other like-minded geeks…plus get to pimp my book. This will be the first SF/F event I attend as a published author. KEWL.
