Random thoughts
Saturday, July 30th, 2005

I spent the greater part of the week not sleeping well. A bit of work stress, a bit of new car excitement, a lot of PMS.

Last night, I decided to not watch live TV, but to wait to watch SciFi Friday once recorded so I can skip commercials. That, plus the fact that I was seriously yawning by 8:00.

Made it to 10:00 and managed to watch SGA.

spoilers and a bit of fanwank

Sometimes things do turn out
Thursday, July 28th, 2005

So, after the crazymaking car stuff, I finally hit my last nerve.

This is the result:

Big Red

Call it a midlife crisis.

I call it Big Red…as in the Mountie, not the soft drink or the chewing gum. ::G::

Weird serendipitous stuff:
* The sales guy is named Rob. The detail guy: James – I have two staff members named Rob and James.

* The financial guy: Chris Keller – which made me crack up. Turns out, he’s totally gay and thinks Chris Meloni is hot. We spent the time drooling over pretty boys while I signed my paperwork.

Oh, BTW, Big Red is a Saturn Vue.

Happy Happy Chickwriter.

Who are you in the Harry Dresden verse?
Tuesday, July 26th, 2005

I liked my result:

I am Harry Dresden.

In my corner of the country, I’m trying to nail things down. I don’t want to live in a world where the strong rule and the weak cower. I’d rather make a place where things are a little quieter. Where trolls stay the hell under their bridges, and where elves don’t come swooping out to snatch children from their cradles. Where vampires respect the limits, and where the faeries mind their p’s and q’s.

My name is Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden. Conjure by it at your own risk. When things get strange, when what goes bump in the night flicks on the lights, when no one else can help you, give me a call. I’m in the book.

Prolific, yo!

Not me, more’s the pity, but you people.

How the heck can I be at skip=100? I was online for most of the weekend, barring naptimes to deal with migraine from hell that’s morphed into low-grade sinus headache.

Shite!

The weekend was hot and, in my case, miserable with the achy head and pincers in the eyeballs. I know it’s both heat and PMS related. Sucks being me right now.

Felt better today, but still very draggy.

At least I remembered to take the DVDs in to mail to Nan. (me<—enabler)

My Dad’s b-day gift (fruit of the month from Harry and David) has been delayed. :(

Work is busy with end of month stuff. Sigh.

I can’t do this
Friday, July 22nd, 2005

I just cannot watch commercial television live.

Is there anything MORE inane than that stupid Arby’s commercial where the guy is dreaming sex dreams about a freakin’ sandwich?

I suffered through Firefly. I will suffer no longer.

::chickwriter turns off TV and waits blissfully for DVR to record everything::

In the meantime: GIP!!

I was inspired by FF.

Yay Friday!!

Sci-Fi Friday awaits. (A Good Thing)
It’s my stepdad’s birthday. (Another Good Thing)
I’ve only got an hour to go before the end of work. (A Very Good Thing)

My plane tix are purchased to NJ for August 12-14 for DS Squee with Dina and the gang. I keep trying to get D on LJ, but it hasn’t worked so far. :)

My plane tix are purchased for San Antonio for October 21-23 – Book signing at alumni event at my alma mater on 10/22 in the a.m. (OMG, it’s been 25 years!) – yes COLLEGE! Later that day (at 2:00), I’ll be signing at Remember the Alibi, my store-away-from-home.

Oh yeah, I’ve still got another book to write/finish/etc. Damn. ;-)

HBP

No real spoilers, but just in case

HBP report – no spoilers
Tuesday, July 19th, 2005

Halfway through.

I spent about an hour and a half last night fussing with my new Vonage router, etc. Eventually I got everything hooked up, which meant I didn’t get to start reading HBP until after 8:30.

Tonight – I hope to finish so I can finally read the comments on my f’list. ::g::

Also: GIP! (I MADE it! – using filters and layers, even)

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE

My British edition of HBP JUST GOT HERE!!!

Wonder if I could get away with reading at work?

Still waiting
Sunday, July 17th, 2005

No HBP for me yet. My UK copy shipped on Friday. My US copy will probably arrive sometime next week from Mysterious Galaxy. I am doing the major avoidance of news, LJ posts, etc.

Spent yesterday in Baltimore at Mystery Loves Company. Book signing for several authors from my publishing house. Had fun, despite the torrential downpour. Our publisher treated us all to an early dinner at Timmy’s – a local Fells Point restaurant just on the water. One of the authors is from Ohio and hadn’t been to this part of B’more before. He was nearly squeeing over the familiar H:LOTS scenery. ::g::

We also all got all fanboy/grrly – discussing SciFi shows, old fan stuff, etc. Fun crowd.

Got home at 6:30 and watched the SciFi Friday premieres. Eeeee!

(No spoilers below)

I think I’m going to be fighting several of you for Rodney, because, gah. He totally flips my geek switch!

I ignored plot holes and just enjoyed a fun ride. SG1 – don’t really know the show much, aside from general exposure and what bheerfan has told me. I’m only starting to watch S1 DVDs. However, Claudia Black is teh hot in leather. Just sayin’

BSG was intense.

I will have to go back and re-watch at some point when I’m not so beat.

Today was definitely for relaxing and napping.
