Duh!
Sunday, June 26th, 2005

So, with my RL work kicking my ass and the overall stressful ickiness, I totally did NOT realize why this was whomping me like a certain willow.

Duh. Look at a calendar.

Can you say PMS?

Between that and allergy hell, no wonder all I wanted to do this weekend was to crawl into bed and read.

Thanks to beledibabe, I know that the pollen counts are astronomical. My eyes are like nasty itchy things. Normally, I take OTC Claritin D sparingly – maybe once a month or so. I’ve been forced to take it for the last several days.

In any case, this enforced cocooning has had one specific effect. I’m now reading SGA fic. Yeah, well…like it’s a surprise!

I did rent the pilot from Netflix and enjoyed it, so now I guess I’ll need to buy the S1 DVDs when they’re released. Damn you all. ::g::

Are SGA repeats being shown on SciFi at this point. Anyone?

I’m also considering renting the SG1 DVDs, because I’ve only seen the original movie and the pilot of the show. Never got into it, but I’m such a ‘ho for canon background. I tend to need to see the source material, even if it’s not great (ahem, the Sentinel)

You see, this is what is so seductive about a new fandom. DVDs to watch! New background info to find out! Shiny new fic!!

Obsessive fangrrl much? Yeah, well. Can’t say I’m surprising myself. It’s not like I haven’t been this way since, say, high school? (even earlier?) (That’s longer than some of you have been alive…just sayin’ ::g::)

On that note, and because my stoopid eyes aren’t cooperating, I’m going back to reading. Seems I’m okay reading a book, but not staring at a screen.

Hope you’ve all had a great weekend!

Batman Postponed

Note to whoever planned to join up for Batman Begins tomorrow at the Regal Gallery Place in DC

We’re having to cancel.

I’m being kicked in the ass by work and now stress-related tummy stuff, so the plan is to reschedule at some point.

My apologies.

Going to go back to watching DVDs and feeling sorry for myself.

It’s the Bat signal, Alfred!! Calling DC area folks
Wednesday, June 15th, 2005

Calling DC area Batman/Christian Bale/prettyboysinblack fans.

I’m designating Saturday, June 25 as Batman Begins day. (I’d do it earlier but RL inteferes).

Gallery Place is showing the movie on more than one screen, so bheerfan and I are planning an afternoon of drooling, followed by dinner somewhere in the area. The movie theatre is right at the metro stop, so it’s easy to get to.

The plan is to see the movie at 3:00ish (whatever showing that is), then food.

Anyone interested? E-me or comment below.

Cruise director, signing off.

OMG, I’m so far behind
Monday, June 13th, 2005

How on earth can I be at Skip-100 just from last night to right now?

What drugs are you people taking?

I found out at 5:15 that I’m going to have to attend a meeting tomorrow in Baltimore, which means I have to be at JP’s house at 7:30 a.m. Yeah, those of you who know me, are laughing.

That’s not the only indignity. This is a presentation to a new client. A client that is a financial services company. That means, no business casual, which is what I wear to most client meetings. Full suit gear, all the way. SHITE!!!

When I got home tonight (late), the fire trucks were at my building. Some freak on the 8th floor decided to charcoal his/her dinner. The smoke on 8 traveled up to my floor. Had to wait to find that out until after they cleared out and the elevators were free.

Now, the thunderstorm from hell has just hit, with a thunderclap so loud it’s set off a ton of car alarms in the parking lot.

Oy freakin’ vey.

I’ve unhooked the laptop and am running on battery until this is over with. Sigh.

I think I need some chocolate.

We’ve also got other job openings – mostly programmers.

Just how long is permanent?
Tuesday, June 7th, 2005

Well, probably longer than I need, but can you say “lemming”? Yep, got me one of them permanent accounts today. It speaks to the utter fangrrliness of moi that it’s the first coherent thing I did this morning, after showering and getting dressed. (Yes, bheerfan, before I went to work!) Sigh.

In any case, 100 icons – w00t! I have plans, loads of plans…but, alas, so little time. Book 2 is screaming for attention, albeit a bit less loudly after I attacked the file last night and churned out 2000 words. It keeps wanting to go much darker, which, hey, I like. That said, I’m still woefully behind and need to do some serious catching up if I want to get this draft finished within a reasonable time frame.

Today has been rather productive at work. I hope it will translate to more writing productivity tonight.

Speaking of work: must go back to it.

Just call me: perma-Chick ::g:: (no, not really)

Beware of scam
Sunday, June 5th, 2005

There’s an e-book site out there that is selling illegal copies of books:

http://www.bookaza.com

Beware!

There is also a very good chance they are scamming credit cards numbers.

I know they are a scam b/c they are selling the Harry Potter books and Jan Burke, neither author has ever released their books to e-book format. In fact, Jan was the one that warned me on this.

Please let your author friends know so they can warn their publishers to take legal action.
