In the mood
Friday, May 6th, 2005

True decadence is coming home to a sparkling apartment, the laundry done, folded and laid out on the bed, including sheets, towels and socks matched! This is my apartment last night. Yay me.

The leak under the toilet tank was still not fixed – I had to call the apartment management for the 4th time today. The daytime person is lovely, she had me wait on the phone while she radioed the maintenance guy and confirmed he was working on it today. We’ll see.

My Whiskey Echo DVDs arried today – many thanks to theamusedone. The ‘zines from nestra arrived while I was out of town, as did my Netflix rentals. Many many things to do this weekend, including writing…but at least I don’t have household chores – yippee!!!

A co-worker brought in my book yesterday morning for me to sign. Weird, but immensely satisfying. Today we celebrated our company’s sixth anniversary. I’ve been here for about 4 1/2 years. Hard to believe.

So very very glad it’s Friday. For a short week (I was off on Monday), it’s been hectic and busy. I’m ready to veg tonight (after a grocery run) to watch movies and enjoy a bit of relaxation.

On another note, I am so in the mood for a good romantic story – h/c, angst, etc. okay, just with a happy sappy ending. My current fandoms include: Due South, Sentinel, Pros and Smallville. Recs highly appreciated, the longer the better. (Not that I haven’t already pretty much exhausted the DS and TS stories, but never hurts to be reminded of a good one – and I’ve only just started reading Smallville).

I hope Comcast is working better tonight. It’s been rather temperamental – rather annoying. Although, it’s a good way to ignore the computer and do a little reading instead.

Totally jealous/envious of the Serenity viewers – wish I could have gone, but am so glad they had a great time! I’m utterly avoiding all spoilers.

Sending belated birthday happiness to those I missed, including sprat, jenboo and zoetrope – I’ve totally been off LJ, skimming posts and wishing I had more time. I think this trend is going to continue, though, as I work on book 2 and promotion of Matters of the Blood.

Pouring, not raining

But only metaphorically.

Spent the vast majority of the day futzing with Thunderbird – froze up during a morning meeting. The upshot – I was able to restore my sent folder, but lost everything in my inbox. Sigh.

To top it all off – my cleaning service just called. The apartment folks seem to have misplaced the key to the apartment. They say the cleaning service didn’t return it – which they did. Now they have to reschedule and I have to figure out how to get them a key for tomorrow.

I think I need a beer…or chocolate…or something.

Tired now
Sunday, May 1st, 2005

Well, it’s all over but the last hurrah.

Yesterday was nothing more than a big blur – from breakfast (which included a phone call to my publisher – more on that later) – to my panel, getting to meet neadods in person (yay!), a meeting with an agent and finally the banquet.

Nope, I didn’t win the Agatha, but one of my best buddies, Elaine Viets, did. This was her 8th nomination and her first win. No more Susan Lucci Syndrome.

Several of us nominees and friends o’nominees closed out the bar last night.

Today, I have no obligations, so I’m dressing comfy, having a leisurely breakfast and then heading home at a reasonable hour. Later this evening I’ll meet some friends for our traditional post Malice dinner.

Tomorrow, I will SLEEP.

Totally not caught up on LJ – only skimming posts – so if you need hugs, congratulations or whatever – consider them sent.

Back to packing…how DID I end up with more stuff?

Oh – final note – I won the Canadian gift basket at the silent auction (…can we say DUH?) It was donated by Mary Jane Maffini, a lovely Canuck author and friend. Copies of each of her books, and a cute Mountie Moose plush. :)
