OMG part 2
Thursday, April 28th, 2005

Holy cow – I GOT TO MEET TOM FONTANA!!!!

I shook his hand and told him how he totally messed up my life over the last 6 months because of Oz. He laughed and said he liked to hear things like that.

Richard Belzer was here tonight, too – didn’t get to meet him, but he was at the awards dinner.

SQUEEE!!!!!!

Thanks to everyone who commented about my book release on Amazon – I’m STILL floating.

Off back to DC in the wee hours (that means 06:30 to those of us that get up at 8:00 normally). Then to Malice Domestic. I think I need to go to bed now.

It’s on AMAZON!!!

OMG, it’s REAL!!!!!

Here’s the link.

BUT – if you can, buy the book from your local independent bookstore. Look for them at Booksense.

OMFG. I repeat myself.

NYNY day 1
Wednesday, April 27th, 2005

Sort of keeping up with LJ – the hotel has WiFi – yippee!!

Yesterday was a gorgeous day. We arrived at the hotel about 11:30 and were able to check in (since E was smart enough to request early check in and told the rest of us to do so).

I’m rooming with CF – we’re on the 28th floor. Not too much of a view, we overlook the Chrysler building.

After settling in, the 4 Mystery Babes did the Grand Central thing (beledibabe leading the way, since none of the rest of us really new what was what). Had a lovely lunch in a little Italian place, then walked around and shopped. I found the scarf I’d been looking for – red and black, to wear at the Agatha banquet on Saturday. Bought some lovely Lapsang Souchong tea from an equally lovely vendor.

Did the agents and editors cruise on the Hudson in the evening – wonderful time!! Got to talk briefly with Mary Higgins Clark – just a few words as she checked in, but *way* cool.

The view of the Statue of Liberty from the Hudson is beyond description.

Dinner last night at a nearby Italian restaurant (guess there’s a theme!) – most wonderful food! Got to meet one of the Edgar nominees – she and her husband are a hoot.

Early early night for us all. We’d all been up since 6 a.m., plus the drive in, etc. etc.

Today is the symposium. At noon-thirty – a book signing at Borders (not me, others – and I hope to see some NYC folks there!). Tonight is the Birthday Bash at the New York Yacht club.

Weather is icky (raining and cold) – but what the heck!

Off to brekkie and COFFEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Off to see the Big City
Monday, April 25th, 2005

After today’s work day, it’s vacation/work time for moi!

Off to NYC for the Mystery Writer’s of America 60th Anniversary events. Driving up in the early a.m. with beledibabe and two other writers. A cocktail cruise on the Hudson on Tuesday night, all day symposium on Wednesday, followed by the birthday bash at the NY Yacht Club. Thursday night is the Edgar Award ceremony. Yippee!!

As beledibabe said, Thursday day is pretty much free, if any of you NYC types have time to do lunch or something.

We drive back on Friday for Malice Domestic. The Agatha Awards ceremony is Saturday night – so send me your good luck vibes as I’m up for Best Short Story.

It’s going to be hard to concentrate on work today.

Very Happy Day!

A very happy birthday to the lovely and newly legal (!!) nifra_idril.

May your day be filled with wonderful things.

You know you’re a total fangrrl when…

…you see an e-mail subject line re: tree service in Wheaton (a legit
city in MD), and you think it is Whedon misspelled.

…you see another e-mail subject line (this time in your spam box) that says Slashed RX and wonder just how they did that

…you read beledibabe‘s post and look at engenda‘s pretty Callum pic and know that your brain isn’t going to be at its best in the 5-hour project meeting you’re about to hold

I think I need a beer…or three.

More varied musings of a discombobulated mind

Drove out to Chantilly today for a client design meeting. Good meeting. Decent drive. I’m tired.

The afternoon has been incredibly hectic. It’s nearly 6:40 and, hey, still tired!! And hey, still at work!!! (Twin, if you’re reading this – I never got to play the sinus headache card.)

Last night at MWA meeting, we got to talk/hear Desson Thomson, Washington Post movie critic. Fascinating man.

I’ve been dipping into LJ on and off today – no realy time to really read. Hopefully, my Comcast connection will be working properly tonight.

_aerye_ this is for you, honey. I totally get your obsession.

Hugs to everyone. I think I’m going to try to wrap up work and go home soon.

House! (no spoilers)

Am I wrong, or did House just tell an Inuit story?

Just sayin’…

Musings from my distracted brain
Tuesday, April 12th, 2005

There is something vaguely disturbing seeing Dean McDermott as a Navy shrink. I keep flashing back to Turnbull.

Another small world moment: The actress that plays Agent Kate Todd also played Jackie in All Over the Guy, a really cute movie I watched recently.

This is my first time watching NCIS. Why did I wait so long?

Of the very very good:
* my apartment is SHINY!!! The new cleaning service came today.
* my RAM chip is now working. All it took was J standing next to me while I reinstalled it. Go figure.
* the Freecycle person came to pick up the bags o’clothes, so yay.

I totally forgot to thank cranberryink for the lovely new mood theme. I keep wanting to do a multi-fandom one, but I procrastinate.

Also of the good: My roomie situation for the Edgar week activities in NYC is now settled. I have a roomie for Tuesday and Wednesday nights. I will now look for someone for Thursday. Whew.

Work was absofuckinglutely INSANE. I’ve heard that from several other people today. Must be something in the stars.

Tomorrow, I get my boobs squished. Not fun, but totally necessary.

This weekend, I get to sleep.
