okay, so I’m a fangrrl, but…
Friday, January 28th, 2005

this is just so wrong. I do have to admit, I’m not up on the character, but somehow, this just strikes me as not right.

In other fannish news, I am totally and utterly hooked on Oz. Just finished season 3 after a marathon session last Saturday and over the past few nights. I haven’t been this sucked into a show since my first exposure to due South or Buffy. I ordered the Oz Season 4 DVDs yesterday. w00t!

Work has been crazy-making – spent the majority of my time the last 2 days on the phone with clients or in meetings. This isn’t normal, but we’re rather busy right now and a bunch of things are going on. My favorite client contact is moving to NYC as of next week, so today I had my last call with her. We’ve exchanged home e-mails and phone #s and I hope to touch base with her when I’m in NYC in April.

I am so behind on LJ – between work and other silliness, I have no clue how far back I’m going to have to go to read posts. Someday, I will catch up….maybe.

Ahh Oz, what a fucked up, twisted show. So watchable and addictive. All those fucked up prisoners with their fucked up relationships. While I love the Beecher/Keller dynamic – they are so fucked up. I love O’Reilly’s machinations. I love poor little Miguel’s woobie. And I think Vern is one of the funniest characters on the show. At total bastard, but so funny.

And you know that Sean and Tim are doing it after work. Or, if you keep watching, you will.

      Oh, yeah.

I’m so glad I found this show. :)

Yeah, Killer Barbies: Can the world have too many of them? Oddly, it looks almost as bad as the movie.

The whole “Barbie as” kind of freaks me the hell out. I’m not sure why they even went there.

w00t! Indeed! Whee! So glad you’re digging it. Heh, it seems to be a show people either adore or dispise, LOL, and it’s almost impossible to predict who is going to have which reaction. Mainlining entire seasons is a very good sign. *g*

Heh, remember when I watched 10 episodes in one night because I just couldn’t stop watching? Man. That was good times. *G*

    it might not suck

although Barbie as Halle Berry Catwoman did. If I ever see her on sale I might buy her for the outfit, and then put it on GI Joe or something… OTOH, the Barbie as Jim Balent Catwoman is hot hot hot and happily gracing a shelf in my home :)

      Re: it might not suck

OMG, as Halle Berry Catwoman – something really frightening about that, too.

…put it on GI Joe or something Snerk! I love this idea. ::g::

Oz! Isn’t it the most amazing show? I really think it’s some of the best television I’ve ever seen. Tom Fontana is a smart guy, and he has a knack for gathering together amazing actors with insane chemistry.

It never turned into a fannish thing for me, in the sense of participating in organized fandom. But I totally consider myself a fan of the show and love to talk about it with people! There’s some really good fanfiction, but I haven’t read a lot of it because the show somehow just doesn’t pull me in that fanfiction way.

Have you read ‘s stories? She has a Vern Schillinger story that is fucking amazing.

Oh, yeah. I’m just basking in the brilliance.

I haven’t read any fic yet, in fear I’ll be spoiled for the rest of the show. I’m sure I will soon. I have so little self-control. ;-)

Oh yeah. In fact, I totally credit you for my plunge into Oz. You’re a great enabler. ::g::

Glad to see you! I hope you’re feeling better. :)

Oz is indeed crack for the crackheaded. Glad you’re enjoying. I have been away from that fandom for quite some time, but there’s an amazingly large number of people you’ll know from DS who are also Oz fans. Weird! does indeed write some of the very best Schillinger around — maybe the best. Good stuff.

Thanks, sweetie – most definitely feeling better. The wonders of modern medicine, eh? Funny thing, just found out this a.m. that my mom is taking the same thing. :)

Re: Oz – I’m definitely looking forward to reading ‘s fic. And the DS/Oz thing, yeah, weird, but somehow makes sense. On the whole, I think DS (and many other fans) are intelligent and analytical. We go beyond the obvious (I mean, please, a Mountie in Chicago?). Oz is one of those shows that requires accepting the obvious and moving past that to seeing into the characters and their relationship dynamics.

Eek, did I just slide into serious fannishness? ;-)
